Juana Paet
Our mom, Juana Fontanilla Paet was born on March 30, 1925 in the Philippines, Taleb Bantay, Ilocos Sur. (Deceased: July 26, 2019)
The children of the Paet siblings (Maximo, Zacarias, Juana, Teodorico, Felipe & Arsenia) will share their heartfelt stories about their father or mother. In addition, we invite those who knew Fausta and Narcissa to tell us their stories too. On the Fontanilla side, we want to know about
Gregoria Fontanilla and about her brothers and sisters. We invite the Fontanilla families to share their stories about them too. Both families, Paet & Fontanilla, are intricately intertwined; and this is a time to get to know each other beginning at our first family reunion and hopefully at future reunions. Teodorico (Doring) Fontanilla Paet was born on November 17, 1929 at Taleb, Bantay Ilocus Sur. He married Clara Andrion (deceased January 16, 1992) in 1948 at Paing Bantay, Ilocus Sur. He arrived in Hawaii in 1969 when his brother Zacarias Paet made a petition for him to come to the islands. When he arrived on Maui, he worked at the following establishments:
On February 13, 1904 in Ilocos Sur Philippines, Leandro Padre Paet was born to Venabuentura and Maria Paet . My mom told me the story of my grandfather, lovingly known as Lelong, who was one of four children born to Venabuentura and Maria Paet.

In my biased opinion and love for my dad, Zacarias Paet is the main reason for this reunion to take place in July 2023. Dad decided to make a huge move in his life to make himself and his life better. In 1946, Zacarias Fontanilla Paet came to Hawaii to work for the Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar (HC&S) Company. He came with hundreds of young Filipino men who were contracted to work for HC&S on the sugar plantation on Maui and they were called Sakadas.
Our dad, FELIPE FONTANILLA PAET, known to us as tatang, was born in Paing, Bantay Iloco Sur on September 13, 1931, and sadly lost his battle to cancer on September 28, 1993 at the age of 62. He was married to Epifania Limon on November 25, 1956.
